After many trials... they return
designed with Homestead
June 1996 saw The Whitinos arrive in Texas with visions of success in the music industry.  Discussions with H-Town Records were underway and the boys were busy trying to book some shows in San Antonio.

The Whitinos' sets at Red Hot & Blues and Carlsbad Tavern were well-received and introduced the band to the San Antonio music scene.  They performed at The White Rabbit, Doza's, and The Crazy Horse gaining valuable experience and insight into working the club scene.

In late July, The Whitinos were invited to H-Town Records in Houston to review the recording contract and headline a showcase of H-Town artists.  Fans and artists alike took a liking to the inter-state rockers, shouting their approval and encouragement.  It looked as though things were going well.

After reviewing the contract, Gil took exception to some of the clauses and refused to sign.  This naturally caused a good deal of friction and things soon began to deteriorate from there.

Brian returned to Minnesota the following month.  Shawn remained in San Antonio for a couple of months trying to keep the dream alive.  When funds and hope of Brian's return ran out, Shawn reluctantly left his friend, Gil, and San Antonio behind to an uncertain future.

Dreams die hard.
